Beamforming Evaluation of 5G User Equipment through Novel Key Performance Indicators

Several standards exist for testing the radiated “over air” (OTA) performance of 5G User Equipment (UE) devices. All these are limited to a Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) evaluation device. With networks and devices already deployed in operation, it becomes necessary develop realistic Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) beamforming metrics UEs. Since most important feature is beamforming, this paper reviews main challenges realistically evaluate device proposes several novel key indicators (KPIs). The results obtained by some measurements show that possible derive figures merit address complexity MIMO-based much better way compared with existing SISO KPIs, academia should provide advanced future research on more KPIs industry face ahead analysis problem hand.
